Cyber security research
The Prodefence team is dedicated to rigorous analysis of emerging trends, critical vulnerabilities and adversary tactics. Through case studies, incident analysis and security assessments, we make significant contributions to the knowledge base of the cybersecurity community. Cybersecurity warnings are central to our activities, promoting an in-depth understanding of the risks associated with the use of technology and the internet, and are aimed at all users, regardless of their level of technical knowledge.
Innovation in cyber security
The Prodefence team is committed to developing and implementing innovative solutions that prevent, detect and respond effectively to cyber security incidents. Our ongoing projects, such as CyberAID.eu and SigurantaDigitala.ro, illustrate our commitment to creating tools, services and methods that improve digital security at an individual and organisational level. The core component being digital and cyber education of users.
Prodefence’s Cybersecurity Research Department focuses on developing knowledge and innovative solutions to address dynamic cybersecurity challenges. Our activities cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:
- Cyber-attack analysis: We analyse a large number of cyber-attacks in order to identify new methods used by attackers and to be able to warn internet and technology users in a timely manner.
- Cybersecurity Education: We develop and deliver courses that emphasize the importance of continuing cybersecurity education for all audiences, from children to professionals. The courses are based on real cyber-attack methods and are complemented by a series of specific recommendations.
- Vulnerability analysis: We perform detailed vulnerability analysis of critical systems and applications, such as those identified in banking infrastructures, to improve the security of sensitive information and data.
- Combating phishing and financial fraud: We investigate and develop strategies to counter phishing attacks and financial fraud, providing solutions to reduce the number of victims of these cyber attacks.
- Mobile app and social media security: We analyse the risks associated with the use of mobile apps and social media, promoting safe practices for online browsing.
- Case studies and incident analysis: We document and analyse significant cyber security incidents, such as phishing attacks or malware campaigns, to understand adversaries’ tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and improve cyber defences.
- Innovation and Development: We are committed to developing technologies and approaches to anticipate and counter emerging cybersecurity threats, including through collaboration with innovative projects and strategic partnerships.
- Information Collection and Analysis: We collect a large amount of information from the DarkWeb, and analysing it helps to identify security breaches and confidential/secret information that has been exfiltrated from victims of cyber attacks, in order to inform the relevant authorities in a timely manner and to mitigate the impact on internet and technology users.
Through these activities, the Cyber Security Research Department aims to contribute to a safer digital environment by promoting a collaborative cyber security culture and encouraging the adoption of best practices in the field.
